PLEASE NOTE : The Chief Veterinary Officers for England, Scotland and Wales have agreed to bring in new measures to help protect poultry and captive birtds, following a number of cases of avian influenza in both wild and captive birds in the UK. There is now a legal requirement to adhere to new poultry housing measures. This means that it will be a legal requirement for all bird keepers to keep their birds indoors and to follow strict biosecurity measures in order to limit the spread of and eradicate the disease.
Housing measures to protect poultry and captive birds from avian influenza are coming into force across the UK at one minute past midnight (00:01) on 29 November 2021.
This means that, from this time, it will be a legal requirement for all bird keepers across the UK to keep their birds indoors, or where this is not practical, to take steps to separate them from wild birds. Click on the image for more details.
