Warsash Allotments
We have 102 plots at this site. Plots are let by "the rod" and a typical 5 rod plot equates to 110 square metres. The annual rent (except for Posbrook Lane) is £10 per rod, plus £5 membership of the association, payable annually on the 1 October. A 5 rod plot will cost £50 per annum, plus the membership fee. Site Managers will issue an annual Rent Renewal Notice with instructions on how to pay.
Warsash allotments are situated in Warsash Road adjacent to the Hook Public House. Use postcode SO31 9HX.
We are adjacent to the Public Toilets on Warsash Road and these are typically open from first thing in the morning until early evening.
Toilets – We do not have a toilet on site. However public toilets are available adjacent to the entrance to the site.
Parking – There is parking for around 6 cars on site. We are next door to the Warsash Road Car Park which is currently free to park for four hours.
Manure and Chippings – At some of our sites there are chippings and manure bins which are regularly topped up and free to use for tenants of those sites.
Equipment – Wheelbarrows are available along with motor mowers to help you keep the area around your allotment tidy.
Buildings – In accordance with the Tenancy Agreement, Plot Holders have a choice of erecting a poly tunnel or a greenhouse on their plot. In addition, they can erect a fruit cage and a shed. This must be within the 20% cultivated area of their plot and subject to agreement of the installation with the Site Manager.
Chickens and Bees – We have 3 bee hives on site which are looked after by an experienced bee–keeper. If you would like to add to these or keep chickens speak to one of the site managers.
Use of Water – Mains water is available to plot holders from standpipes situated across each site but, because water is an expensive resource, plot holders are encouraged to capture rainwater in water butts. When possible, plot holders are asked to water plants from a watering can. It is accepted that elderly or infirm plot holders may physically not be able to wield a heavy watering can. In such circumstances, spot watering with hoses is permitted provided the water is targeted at roots of plant. Spraying devices are not permitted in any circumstances.
Water Conservation – Sarisbury site managers are experimenting with the installation of IBC tanks each holding 1000 litres of rainwater collected on building roofs. Further IBC tanks will be purchased and rolled out if the experimental project proves successful.
