Welcome to the Western Wards Allotment Association Web Site

The Western Wards Allotment Association is one of several associations in the borough of Fareham. We have 5 busy sites in the Western Wards.

For those "out of the area" who are just browsing the site you might like to know that this part of Hampshire used to be famous for its strawberries, which were taken up to Covent Garden Market to be sold all over England. You can still buy or pick-your-own strawberries from a few local farms during the season, but most of what were the strawberry fields are now housing estates. The Talisman Pub ( on the A27 in Park Gate ) is named after a type of strawberry which grew particularly well in this area.

The boom in allottments shows no sign of slowing down and the waiting list for plots gets longer and longer. If you are thinking of joining us, then get in touch as soon as you can. There's a list of people on our Contacts page. You should always try and make contact with our Hon Sec in the first instance. Before you do, decide on which of our five sites you'd like your plot. Our "Allotty Year" starts in October. There's more information on our FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) page - just click on the FAQs tab in the menu above.

STOPCOCKS

Just in case you were wondering why the taps are dry.... As agreed with FBC we have turned off the water from December 1st at all sites in an attempt to avoid any burst pipes.

I'm sorry that the site has been off the air during most of November. The site was hacked and some of the links were changed to point to different web sites than those intended. Some of these alternate sites hosted malware so if you had visited them and downloaded stuff from them you would have very likely had you PC or laptop compromised. The WWAA site itself did not host any viruses, trojans etc. Simply visiting our site would not have caused you any problems.

The problem has now been resolved and I have taken this opportunity to change the design of the site to bring it up to date with the latest techniques. Not all the pages are complete yet, but I didn't want to have the site off-line any longer. The rest of the pages - plus some new stuff - will all be in place before Xmas. Thanks for your patience
